The Owners
Steve is a native Californian born and raised in San Diego County. Steve was introduced to the jewelry profession by his dad, whom he started working for at age 15.
His jewelry career began with cutting turquoise. Then at age 16 he started working with silver; by age 18 he was working fulltime as an apprentice goldsmith. His interest has always been a blend of art and mechanics. Steve takes great pride in the quality of his workmanship. If you've ever seen a piece of his jewelry, you'll recognize that it's made to last a lifetime.
A native of Michigan, Alison came to San Diego on vacation in 1986. Fate brought Steve and Alison together when she walked into his store. The rest is history. With a background in customer service, Alison naturally focuses on each client as an individual. She is well known for her ability to understand and help guide the creative process of designing a unique piece of jewelry. Her emphasis is on fitting the piece to the person's lifestyle so that they can wear and enjoy it.
Today, after twenty-three years in business and eighteen years of marriage, Steve and Alison continue to run Alpine Jewelers as a husband and wife team. They work and live in the small rural community of Alpine, California where they are raising their two teenage sons. In their free time, Alison and Steve enjoy bicycling and hiking with their family in the local area.
